Kaleidoscope Entertainment has officially announced the release of the highly anticipated documentary Borrowed Time: Lennon’s Last Decade, a powerful new look into the final ten years of John Lennon’s life. The film will premiere in UK cinemas on 2nd May, with special Q&A screenings to be revealed soon.

Directed by renowned music documentarian Alan G. Parker, whose past works include Hello Quo, Love Kills: The Story of Sid and the Pistols, and It Was Fifty Years Ago Today… Sgt Pepper and Beyond, this latest feature is an unmissable deep dive into the personal and political transformation of one of the 20th century’s most iconic figures.

Borrowed Time traces Lennon’s post-Beatles years, revealing how he reinvented himself as a solo artist, outspoken activist, and symbol of peace. The documentary sheds light on his creative output during the 1970s, his complex relationship with fame, and the personal evolution that shaped his final years.

Through rare archival footage, including never-before-seen interviews, the film gives voice to those who knew Lennon best—musicians, journalists, and close friends—offering a candid and moving portrait. For the first time, audiences will hear the full, untold story of how John met Yoko, and gain insight into the fabled 1981 comeback tour that tragically never came to be.

In addition to its theatrical release, a 3.5-hour Director’s Cut of the film will stream from 2nd May for one month only, exclusively on the Icon Film Channel, available via Amazon Prime Video Channels or the standalone app.

Speaking ahead of the premiere, director Alan G. Parker reflected:

“I am so excited to share Borrowed Time: Lennon’s Last Decade with UK audiences. I’ve made a number of films, but this is the first one that feels personal. I never met John Lennon, but through his music he became the older brother that this bullied kid needed.”

Whether you’re a lifelong Beatles fan or new to Lennon’s solo legacy, Borrowed Time promises a moving, insightful experience that redefines what we thought we knew about the man behind the music.

Don’t miss this revealing journey into the heart and soul of a cultural icon.
