An elderly woman was hit and killed by a loose train of tram 2 on Fővám square on Wednesday evening.
Police Lt. Col. Soma Csécsi, the spokesperson of the BRFK, told the press that: “on Wednesday at around 10:00 p.m., an elderly woman was hit by the tram at the Fővám square stop, who lost her life after the accident.”
Soma Csécsi added that with the involvement of a technical expert, the circumstances of the accident are investigated in the framework of criminal proceedings. Tram number 2, running according to the schedule, going from Boráros square in the direction of Jászai Mari square, was just entering the stop when, at least according to the driver, a technical error occurred and it was unable to brake. According to the available information, they were finally able to stop the train at the traffic light intersection on Havas street.
