On Monday afternoon there was a serious fight on a Budapest tram. While traveling in the area of ​​Széna square on tram number 4-6, three people attacked an elderly passenger.

Arriving at Margaret Bridge the tram driver tried to intervene, however, he was immediately attacked, abused and kicked. According to eye witnesses, one of the attackers had a knife. A woman among the passengers rushed to help the driver, and the police already went to the Buda bridgehead of Margaret Bridge, where they detained two women and a man.

The police wrote: “On October 31st, 2022, at 4:20 p.m., the Activity Control Center of the Budapest Police Headquarters sent patrols to Budapest, district II. to the Margaret Bridge, Budai hídfő bus stop, as a report of a fight was received from there. The officers arrived at the scene within a minute, where they arrested two women and two men, and then took them to the BRFK II. District Police Department. According to the procedure data, two female and one male assaulted an older passenger on the tram after an argument, and then a man attacked the tram driver as well. The 27-year-old man and 32-year-old women were interrogated as suspects on suspicion of the crime of group rioting, and the 19-year-old man on suspicion of the crime of violence against a public official. The latter suspect was taken into custody by the police and a motion was made to request his arrest.”
