Weather warnings issued for this afternoon

The Hungarian Meteorology Service has issued first and second level weather warnings for Wednesday afternoon because of heatwave and thunderstorms.

Second level weather warnings were issued for Békés and Csongrád counties, while first level warnings were issued for Bács-Kiskun, Hajdú-Bihar, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg.

In the eastern regions of the country, the highest temperatures could hit 38 Celsius degrees; in the south-eastern regions, the highest temperatures will be around 27 Celsius degrees, while in the western regions, the highest temperatures will be between 22-30 Celsius degrees.

Besides heatwave, thunderstorms and stormy wind are also expected in some parts of the country. First level weather warnings were issued because of thunderstorms and stormy wind for the following counties: Pest, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Győr-Moson-Sopron, Heves, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok, Komárom-Esztergom, Nógrád and Vas.
